Of Atlasing Clouds [part 3]

Well then, where did I stop?
An yes, the third? Next, we shall continue on to the fourth one.

4. The Ghastly Ordeal of Timothy Cavendish.

Oh ho...this one is comedic. ^^ But the guy's a little annoying though. Heh. But then again, this one is the comedic part of the story. ^^

It talks about this man named Timothy Cavendish. So, this man, just got himself stuck in some shit with this gangster-like guy who wants to be an author. Hence, in order to escape this shit, he seeks his brother's help and well...thought that his brother has sent him to a place where he will be safe...He didn't expect that place to be...a nursery...

Oh yes, it's in the year 2012....
Well then, let us start of with the characters, shall we?

1. Timothy Cavendish

Well, introducing Mr Timothy Cavendish (Let's just call him Tim for now, shall we?), played by Jim Broadbent (who also played Vyvyan Ayrs is Letters from Zedelghem). This man....if I am not wrong, is a book publisher (or at least something of that sort). He well, got involved with the wrong sort (nope, I don't mean drugs etc)- just a man named Dermot Hoggins, this thuggish looking man who strives to be an author and wrote a book entitled 'Knuckle Sandwich'. So, the book became a hit and Tim found himself being showered by money until...well...Dermot's thuggish relatives come demanding for their share of the income from the book's success and Tim found himself short on cash...And after many failed attempts to borrow money from his numerous contacts, Tim turned to his brother for help....

2. Dermot Hoggins

Dermot Hoggins, played by (Oh-god-I-didn't-expect-it-but-it-is Tom Hanks), is this sort of thuggish, mafia-ish man who just so happen to be the author of a book known as 'Knuckle Sandwich'...God knows what book that is but I really assume that it is related to violence and those kind of shit. =v='l' Anyway, Dermot here, was aiming for some best seller award but apparently, his book was panned by book critic, Mr. Felix Finch. And...to cut to the chase...Mr Hoggins wasn't pleased and he killed Mr Finch. Because of his audacity for committing a crime in public, people began buying his book...Thus, the profit. ^^

3. Nurses Noakes

Seriously....you wouldn't believe who played this...but once I mention the name, you can see a little of that actor in this character...
It's Hugo Weaving...
Yes...HUGO WEAVING

Yup...that's him.
Well, Nurse Noakes is a nurse in the nursery (so many 'N's) where Tim  gets sent to (against his own will without him knowing. LAWL) Yup....well...Nurse Noakes...is big...and scary....LOL but well, is sort of this discipline teacher figure in the nursery.

LAZY TO PUT ANY SPOILERS...

Generally Tim and a group of them old folks in the nursery hopes to escape the nursery. So...yeah, it shows how they did it- from the planning, etc...

^^

Overall, this didn't really catch much of my attention because at one point, Tim became sorta annoying but was okay towards the end of the movie. It's comedic, unlike the other stories in this movie. ^^

Screencaps from the movie:

Cheers! ^^

Atlasing Clouds part 2

Here's part two. ^^ Part one was too long, so I decided to split this into a few parts. :P

Well, continuing~~

2. Letters from Zedelghem

Letters from Zedelghem takes place in the year 1936 and the main character of this story is a young man called Robert Frobisher

Well, to start off with the characters in this part of the story:

1. Robert Frobisher

Robert Frobisher, portrayed by the talented Ben Whishaw is was the disinherited son of a noble family. He strives to be a composer but was kicked out of the music school he was attending. Nonetheless, Robert had talent and he left London to look for a job as a amanuensis. He found a job, assisting an ailing and aging composer named Vyvyan Ayrs. He constantly writes letters to his lover, Rufus Sixsmith, who is in London from the home of Vyvyan- Chateau Zedelghem. (Yes, he is gay. So what?) Composer of The Cloud Atlas Sextet which became a great piece.

2. Vyvyan Ayrs

Vyvyan Ayrs, played by Jim Broadbent, is an ailing and aging composer who was searching for an amanuensis to write down his composition. He took in Robert to be his amanuensis and under his care, being able to compose many great pieces with Robert's help. Threatens to take ownership of Robert's composition - The Cloud Atlas Sextet

3. Rufus Sixsmith (Young)

Portrayed by James D'Arcy, Rufus Sixsmith is a physicist who is based in London. He gives Robert much hope and is the recipient of generally most of Robert's letters. He then left for Belgium to look for Robert when the latter wrote of committing suicide (I think LOL). He is Robert's lover and will appear in the story related to Luisa Rey.

There are many more characters in this story, like Vyvyan's wife, Jocasta and his daughter Eva Ayrs. Characters from the first story do appear in this story as well.

           *-----------------------Spoilers down below---------------------*

Well, this story ended pretty sad. I must admit I had tears in my eyes when I saw Rufus holding Robert's dead body. Vyvyan was not killed, and Robert became a wanted man because of the assault. However so, Robert did finish his composition which became a masterpiece. It can be heard in the following story. The final composition must've been handed in by Rufus to be played by an orchestra.

Still a better love story than Twilight (Oops, don't kill me Twilight fans)

       *----------------------END OF SPOILERS---------------------*

Yup, that's about it. :D

Screencaps from this story:

3. Half-Lives: The Firsts Luisa Ray Mystery

This story takes part in the year 1973 where reporter Luisa Rey uncovers a dark secret of the organisation that it threatens her very life. It is also in this story where the audience discovers that Rufus Sixsmith is still alive, but has aged and has become a prominent physicist in a company known as Seaboard Corporation run by a man named Lloyd Hooks (played by Hugh Grant)

Well, presenting the characters: :D

1. Luisa Rey

Luisa Rey, portrayed by award-winning actress Halle Berry, is a reporter for a company known as Spyglass. Her father, Lester Rey used to be in the military and after returning from the Korean war, he became a journalist and Luisa took after him. Luisa had a fateful meeting with Rufus Sixsmith when they found themselves stuck in a lift during a power outage. Unknowingly, she hadn't expected to gain the trust of Rufus and eventually find herself on the run from Bill Smoke (played by Hugo Weaving) because of her connection to Rufus and her attempt to spill the dirt about Seaboard Corporation.

2. Joe Napier

Joe Napier, portrayed by Keith David is the head of security in Seaboard Corporation. He assists Luisa in her choice of revealing the dirt in Seaboard Corporation regarding the HYDRA project. Used to be in the military with Luisa's father, Lester, he owes his life to the latter, taking Luisa's safety as his main priority.

3. Rufus Sixsmith (Old)

Rufus Sixsmith (played by the same actor, James D'Arcy) has aged and became a physicist in Seaboard Corporation. Despite being one of the scientist in charge of the HYDRA project, Rufus began to oppose the idea and expose the real intention behind the HYDRA project and end it. He is the only character that appears as the same character in two different stories.

Well, other characters of course include:
Llyod Hooks, the CEO of Seaboard Corporation and played by British actor Hugh Grant, Bill Smoke, portrayed by Hugo Weaving, the assassin who was sent to murder Rufus, Issac and Luisa and Issac Sachs, who is played by Tom Hanks who kinda became Luisa's brief moment love interest. (Hints something in the future)

Oh yes, this is also where audience can listen to Robert Frobisher's composition, the Cloud Atlas Sextet :)

And the clerk who works at the recording store where Luisa goes to find the Cloud Atlas recording so happens to be the actor who portrays Robert. Talk about coincidence in this movie!!

    *----------------------Spoilers down below---------------------*

Actually, am not really sure if I have any spoilers...wait...lemme think.....ah yes....Rufus...of course, gets murdered by the assassin. (Sad guy....)
And yeah, generally, you can quite expect what happens...the good guys prevail in the end. :D

     *---------------------END-OF-SPOILER-----------------------*

Wee bit of screencaps. ^^

This story was pretty interesting too. :D

Cheers! ^^

Of Atlasing Clouds!! [Part 1]

Movie Review time!!

CLOUD ATLAS

Finally, watched Cloud Atlas!
Had been very intrigued with the concept, etc etc etc.....
But well, was confused at the very beginning because they sorta just jumped into the story. And then it sends you across 6 different lifetimes and you'll be like...
"Who's who??"

Well, you see those number of casts up there? They are well, kinda like the main casts but then...you wouldn't imagine how many roles each of them played. I think one actor/actress played a minimum of 3 roles!
Holy crappamolly!!!
They had to like switch between roles and it's just..woah....tests how many personalities they can actually bring out.

Well, generally Cloud Atlas talks about how everything is connected. It talks about our past lives and our present and our future, that the people that we meet, or have connection with us, will be in our lives in the future or have been in our past.

We may hold different connections with one another, like take for example:

Boy A meets Girl A and Girl B.
They maybe friends but they could be just acquaintances in the future.

I have to say, Cloud Atlas's concept is really really interesting. Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 67% freshness rating and I guess that's already pretty good. :D (Okay, maybe it could've gotten a 70%. Just round it up dammit!)

Okay, Cloud Atlas basically goes through 6 different years with each character in 6 different lifetimes (Well, there was one who had 1 lifetime in 2 different years. (He aged!!!))

The chronological order of the life is (included the year that particular lifetime takes place in)

1. The Pacific Journal of Adam Ewing (1849)
2. Letter fron Zedelghem (1936)
3. Half-Lives: The First Luisa Rey Mystery Characters (1973)
4. The Ghastly Ordeal of Timothy Cavendish (2012)
5. An Orison of Sonmi-451 (2144)
6. Sloosha's Crossin' An' Ev'rythin' After (2321)

Well, I will go through the story one-by-one here. XP

1. The Pacific Journal of Adam Ewing

I'm a little blur in this one. Well, generally, I was blur at almost every single one...well, I think except the Sonmi story and the last one. HEH xD

So, start off with the characters in this chapter

1. Adam Ewing

Adam Ewing, played by Jim Sturgess, is a San Francisco attorney who is married to Tilda Ewing (played by Doona Bae). He meets Autua, a black slave who was tied and whipped. On the same island, he meets Dr Henry Goose (played by Tom Hanks) who had seemed to be a wee bit eccentric but then he found some similarities between the both of them and soon became friends.
On his voyage back home to San Francisco on the Prophetess, Henry tells Adam that he has a mysterious ailment that needs to be treated and Henry, being a doctor, tends to that ailment.

2. Henry Goose

Dr Henry Goose, portrayed by award-winning actor Tom Hanks is pretty much an eccentric, odd person. Adam first met him on an island on the voyage back to San Francisco and finds him digging up teeth left by the cannibals of the island. Well, Dr Henry Goose ain't really a doctor- in fact, he was a dangerous con man who conspires to rob Adam Ewing off his gold.

3. Autua

Autua, played by David Gyasi, was one of the black slaves on the island where Adam's vessel had stopped for a repair. Adam first saw Autua when the latter was being whipped as the natives there somewhat carries out this public flogging. =.= Don't really get the idea though....Well, Autua then sneaks on board the Prophetess and pleas to Adam take him with him to San Francisco. The latter had initially objected until Autua then asked of him to kill him because the act of refusing him is similar to the act of killing him. Adam then agrees and the friendship between the both of them then started.

            *-------------------Spoilers down below---------------------*

Henry, who had seemed to be Adam's "friend", wasn't all that he seemed to be. Henry, who knows that Adam has a chest filled with gold plans to rob him. So, he made up the excuse that Adam has a mysterious 'ailment' to 'treat' him, feeding him with poison in order to send Adam to his death (if not death, just make him blind). However, Adam, who has taken Autua under his protection, saving the latter's life from a crossbow, saves Adam's live and later, treating him with salt water to wash away the poison from his stomach (regurgitation, yup)
Adam managed to return home to his home and wife in San Francisco and then tells his father-in-law that he wishes to leave San Francisco and go to the east of the states to join the Slavery Abolishment Movement, with the support of his wife, Tilda.

          *---------------------END-OF-SPOILERS--------------------*

Well, my favourite quote from this part of the story is said by Henry Goose:

"The weak are meat and the strong do eat"

It's like saying:
The strong shall live and the weak shall die.

And another one by Adam Ewing himself:

"What is an ocean, but a multitude of drops?"

This concludes part 1 of this review. I give this story..well....
3.5/5?
Well, because I generally couldn't differentiate Adam and another character from the second part. Until...well....almost halfway throughout the movie <--- *slaps self*

Day 74 and the day Malaysia's political fate will be decided

74 days since a last incident. :D

Anyway,
getting to the sub-title....
Malaysia's  General Election 2013 (GE13)

This is one hell of an event that has sparked much of an uproar among Malaysians. Malaysians are getting really active in this, where eligible voters are standing up and voting for the party which they think will lead the country to a better future.

Hearing the exclaims of 'UBAH' (Which means 'Change' in the Malay language), the opposition supporters are urging the Rakyat (People) to change the government. While on the other hand, Barisan National (The government that has been ruling for over 50 years) are playing their part to maintain their place in the government.

Today,
a date that we will not forget
(5/5/13)

The general elections....like World War in the form of votes. =.=
This is why I especially hate politics...
I really just hope that there will be peace...:(

I'm pretty sure you can find cases, accusations, insults, rumours, tweets, pictures, videos related to the GE13...But then, I can assure that I still love Malaysia :)

Go Malaysia!

Of the Ironing Man....part 3

WARNING, SPOILERS DOWN BELOW. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK

YOU ARE ABOUT TO ENTER IRON MAN 3 SPOILER ZONE

Okay, am overdoing it abit with the spoiler part. But then....SPOILERS WILL SPOIL EVERYTHING FOR YOU! IF YOU'VE NOT WATCH, PLEASE AVOID READING THIS!!! >.<

So, just 1 day after Iron Man 3 opened in cinemas over here in Malaysia, me, my friend and my sis just decided,
"Let's watch Iron Man 3. Like...Let's go!"

And so we did...
TGV Cinemas....
and I have to say
Paying RM16 for that movie...
Is so damn worth it.....
SO DAMN BLOODY WORTH IT!!!

Firstly, I would say that this storyline, as compared to the previous 2 installment, is funnier. Much more comedic...and that is no lie because Tony Stark is just hilarious as hell here...OMG...Almost everything about him is just funny.

And they made Pepper Potts a power lady here. She's so cool right at the end.

Robert Downey Jr is Iron Man a.k.a Tony Stark

A little spoiler for this picture over here...
Tony Stark does not only have a few armors. He said it's a hobby, even Pep said so...and what do people usually do in their free time?

Tend to their hobbies.
So, generally speaking, his hobby resulted in...many armors...XD
His latest result from his hobby is Mark 42....so, that hints how many armors he has....=v=

And I tell you, when those armors came in for the 'House Party Protocol'

I just went

HOLY CRAPAMOLLY!!!

"AINFOAIWNR!@i*$a(sj!@ru(sjOQ2RHOFASHF0192UEpihoihIWAF" Could express my expression/reaction in words....

Is that even a....logical form...or...er...a. word?

ANYWAY!
Gwyneth Paltrow plays Pepper Potts
It's so sweet how important Pepper is to him, that she is the one that keeps him sane and strong and that he needs to protect the one thing that is important to him- her.
It's just......AHHHHHHHHHH~~~~ <3 <3

Anyway, carrying on, to the villain~

You know that moment when you see Ben Kingsley posing as Iron Man's latest opponent? On the poster?
I remember and I was like
"Holy shit, Robert Downey has Ben Kingsley as his enemy...OMG...Charlie Chaplin vs Mahatma Gandhi?

Ben Kingsley plays 'The Mandarin' a.k.a Trevor Slattery

After watching the movie...I just went....
LIES....=3=

The actual villain was actually the man named
Aldrich Killian....played by Guy Pearce....and I have to tell you, complete mastermind-maniac....

Guy Pearce plays The Mandarin a.k.a Aldrich Killian

But again, all of that was due to Tony's playboy-ish, not serious at all attitude...He made enemies....

And of course....
I'm running out of laptop battery to continue writing much, but I'm just gonna touch a little more on the characters...

The Iron Patriot....=v=
Colonel James Rhodes...also another amusing fellow....He and Tony make the funniest team...

Don Cheadle plays the Iron Patriot a.k.a Colonel James Rhodes

If you haven't watch...please watch!!
AND OH!! STAY UNTIL THE END! LIKE ANY MARVEL MOVIES, THERE'S ALWAYS AN EXTRA AT THE END! XD
AND IT'S ALSO HILARIOUS

So, generally, Iron Man 3 = Hilarious. :P

This was what I bagged from the theater for getting the limited edition Iron Man 3 combo set. :D

It's a tumbler!!! <3 <3

ENJOY THE MOVIE!!

Signing off.
E :)
